The formula I came up with is Emotional Balance = Competitive Fight + Emotional Control The part about letting go has to do with emotional control. It's a tough balancing act. Thanks for this great insight. In Chinese philosophy it is said that perpetually sharpening your blade will make it blunt. The pursuit of perfection is certainly a two sided sword, and in sport there must always be a questioning of the objective versus the subjective. True perspective is probably the greatest gift a sportsperson can have. The balance is best achieved with this, and then going hell for leather when it counts. Love your work.

Eleven Rings is a great book. It's on my shelf and when I glance at it, I keep thinking it says, "Elven Rings."
