“the best athletes in the world are concerned with restraint. How can they improve at a sustainable rate without ‘burning themselves up’ through overtraining?” -https://aeon.co/essays/what-ethiopian-running-says-about-the-limits-of-human-ability

This is non-sports related, but this reminds me of an interview I heard with Jerry Seinfeld who was talking creativity on network show.

Because the show was broadcast there were censorship rules that restricted what could be said. But Seinfeld said he loved the constraints because it forced the writers to approach subjects, some of them very taboo in the 90’s, in clever ways. This caused a greater level of creativity than would be the case if they had full rein.

Thus, be master of your domain.

Some of the writing on Friends was similarly fiendishly clever when talking about sex or other sensitive topics. We all knew exactly what was meant without saying anything explicit. See the sex by numbers bit with Monica for example.

No one size fits all. There is no holy grail method or you can say there is no perfect human, no perfect business plan, no perfect education system, no perfect country or state, no perfect parenting principles. One needs to do research in any walk of life as we can't we keep doing copy paste in our own lives by seeing what works for other people.

We as humans don't want to work on own frame work & we don't want to apply our own set of thinking. People don't want to invert meaning they don't want to look inside their own selves to look for pitfalls. First principles thinking is in quite scarcity now a days.

As Rick Rubin says- Beware of the assumption that the way you work is the best way simply because it is the way you have done it before.

We got to be throwing ourselves in the pool where we can learn from others and what I think is it is better to be a small fish in a big pond because the role of environment is a major factor what one achieves in their lives personally & collectively as well.

Also James Clear put it into words- You need to alter, tweak, and shift your environment until it matches what you want out of life.

To achieve your goals, you must design your environment so that desired behaviors are the default action, as environment beats willpower & he also tells about the importance & significance of- The desire to belong is a more powerful driver of behavior than simply trying to make a change both over the short term & over the long haul in any domain/walk of life.
